Laura Rene Marks-Trueman

Laura Rene Marks-Trueman is a talent manager, vintage and antiques dealer, as well as a prop specialist (props runner, props buyer) specializing in entertainment industry collectibles. A native of the Bronx, New York City, Trueman is the manager of award-winning actress, director, producer, writer, and filmmaker Lillee Jean Trueman (Lillee Jean TALKS! Live, The Gilded Age, The Trapper Trap, Write To Kill, The Mission Is Complete Angelique, So Lillo Qui), and has been married to Diamond Earl Trueman since 1986. Her husband had a notable career in the music industry. As a young musician, his band was signed to RCA Records before the Vietnam War led to its breakup. Trueman continued to play throughout the 1970s and '80s as a session drummer. His family also has deep roots in entertainment, as his uncle, William Wadsworth "Bill" Zielor, was a prominent figure who managed the J. P. Harris Downtown Theatre, Century Theatre, and was a Universal Artists Executive. He is of French and English descent.

​Her career began in the late 1990s when she founded an independent, woman-owned business in Queens, New York City. Trueman started by selling her unique vintage memorabilia throughout the metropolitan area. As a result, her company's reputation grew, leading to an expansion into providing props for major theaters and Hollywood movie studios.

Trueman has a notable portfolio as a prop specialist, with credits on major shows such as Mad Men, The Alienist, Blindspot, Limitless, and Gotham, as well as films such as Public Enemies, Sucker Punch, Blood Ties, Salt, The Irishman, the entire Men in Black series, and Shutter Island.

​Trueman is known for her specific contributions, including supplying the prop guns for Public Enemies and providing various props for the Men in Black trilogy.

 

Her collaborations include working with property master Scott Getzinger on several projects, such as Men in Black, Shutter Island, and Salt. On television, she worked as a prop runner and buyer on The Alienist (seasons 1 through 2) with prop master Ellen Freund. With Freund, she continued to work on seasons 3 through 7 of the hit show Mad Men. Trueman worked on these projects as a prop runner, prop buyer, and prop researcher.

Her expertise is showcased in articles for William Sieppel's Worthpoint, where she detailed supplying the iconic prop guns for Johnny Depp's Public Enemies and providing vintage items for Men in Black III,  highlighting her unique contributions to the film industry.​​​

In 2012, Trueman collaborated with Worthpoint and founder Will Seippel, where she presented and appraised antiques and memorabilia. Her appearances included the Miami Beach Antique Show and the Chicago Randolph Street Market. In 2013, she attended with Worthpoint, May's Antique Market.

 

Trueman's expertise in the field has earned her recognition, including interviews with Ina Steiner, and Martin Willis, where she discussed her contributions in film and TV.
